Our world is a very stressful place and although we cannot get rid of stress completely – it is an intrinsic part of our lives -, we can learn to cope with it and to alleviate some of the acute physical symptoms of stress (the ‘fight or flight’ reaction) by focusing our attention on the place of inner calm using mindfulness and meditation.
This 6-week course is designed to help people engage with their own wellbeing and become more effective at managing stress and their emotions.
The 90 minutes long weekly sessions consist of gentle guided meditation practices within a safe group setting to cultivate awareness of moment to moment experience.
Group members are invited to share experiences in pairs and small groups, although this is not essential and there is no pressure to talk.
The development of a regular home practice is encouraged to deepen formal and informal practices with suggested mindfulness and meditation resources, and a course handbook.
*The course fee includes six 90 minute long weekly sessions and handouts.
All sessions will take place at the Cornerstone Community Centre, Church Road, Hove BN3 2FL
