The Employee Wellness Survey 2016, published by the Reward and Employee Benefits Association (Reba) and Punter Southall Health and Protection in March 2016, revealed that growing numbers of employers are now putting employee wellness firmly on their corporate agenda: 31% planned to implement their own wellness strategy in 2016 and 35% are planning to do so in the next three years.
Developing a wellness programme for staff does not have to be complicated. A good place to start is for employers to review their absence data and the demographics of their workforce.

The effects of having an unhealthy relationship with food and body image distress aren’t restricted to individuals’ personal life – like any other cause of stress, they spill over into all other areas of life, including work. Mindful Eating is a new scientific technique that allows us to observe, understand and gain awareness of our eating behaviour. This systemic approach to eating works on several levels, tackling family and societal influences, individual’s emotions and habitual pattern of responding to stress, as well as misconceptions and lack of education on nutrition.

Thank you all for coming along last night to celebrate the 5th anniversary of our community stress management programme Hove StressBusters! It was great to take stock of the different things we’ve done over the last 12 months and present all the ongoing activities. During the evening we laughed and played, got lulled into a hypnotic trance, learned how to let go of negative emotions and beliefs, and how to play with and transform words and concepts… we really tackled stress from several different angles!

One thing became clear – some of them were heading towards burnout, and yet this is a company that really takes workplace wellbeing seriously and invests in a number of initiatives and services to improve the health and wellbeing of their employees. So why were these people so stressed out?
